Alberto Gruel is a native of Baja California, living in Rosarito Beach, Baja California, Mexico.
He started photography as a hobby in 1975, since then has attended several photography
workshops and lectures in the U.S. and in Mexico including Zone VI in Putney Vermont and Oliver Gaglianni`s in Virginia City NV amongst other.
Alberto was a photography teacher at Baja California University from 1984 to 1992 both in the Mexicali and Ensenada Campuses. He wrote a textbook on Basic Photography for Beginners.
Since 1980 he has been a Commercial Photographer and co-founder of Artes Fotográficas in Mexicali Baja California Mexico.
Alberto has traveled extensively through the Baja Peninsula capturing the wonderful FORMS AND COLORS OF THIS PARADISE working with traditional chemical medium and lately experimenting with digital equipment. Digital offers many advantages, but it will never substitute Black and White traditional process, a serious FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHER needs to learn to control the many different variables to produce a true work of art
His photographs have appeared in many books, business and promotional publications
He has had several one man shows as well as participated in multiple collective exhibitions.
Photography has given me the privilege to capture the true essence of my land and its people. It has provided my SOUL with spiritual food
